Voorhees, NJ, November 3, 2014 -- AAA South Jersey has a long history of supporting the people, schools, companies and communities that make the area such a desirable place to live and work. The Club has been a staunch supporter of the region’s veterans, who serve our country so selflessly.

In honor of the numerous retired and active military in the area, AAA South Jersey recently dedicated a parking spot at its Voorhees headquarters for all who have served in our military.

“There are so many veterans in this area that have gone off to war – whether it was World War II, Korea, Vietnam, Iraq or Afghanistan -- that don’t get the recognition they deserve,” said AAA South Jersey CEO Carol Scott. “We want to recognize our veterans as a very important part of our community, and make something a little more accessible to them. It's a small token to thank them for their sacrifices.”

The idea for the parking space was suggested by a AAA employee, Scott said. In making the suggestion, Scott said the employee came up with the idea after seeing a large number of veterans frequenting the AAA office.

“It seemed like an excellent idea, so we made it happen very quickly,” Scott continued. “I'm proud of it, and I think it's a great step. I think veterans are one of the most under-recognized groups of people. Sometimes we neglect the fact they are out there putting their lives on the line to protect us while we enjoy the comfort of our homes."

The parking spot is located near the front entrance of the office, located at 700 Laurel Oak Road in Voorhees. A sign states “Reserved Veteran Parking”, and the spot is trimmed in bright orange paint to further designate the space.

In addition to the parking spot, AAA South Jersey also has a special membership offer for veterans. All members of the Armed Forces are eligible to receive two additional months on a yearly membership by visiting a AAA South Jersey branch office and presenting a valid Military ID or DD214 credentials.

As North America’s largest motoring and leisure travel organization, AAA provides more than 54 million members with travel, insurance, financial and automotive-related services. Since its founding in 1902, the not-for-profit, fully tax-paying AAA has been a leader and advocate for the safety and security of all travelers.
