AAA South Jersey Sponsors a Successful Stamp Out Hunger Food Drive

In 2026, the Stamp Out Hunger campaign resulted in nearly 230,000 pounds of food donated to the Food Bank of South Jersey. The donations will provide 191,406 meals to South Jersey residents facing food insecurity. Stamp Out Hunger takes place annually on the second Saturday of May.

Since 2023, AAA South Jersey has sponsored this food drive, which is designed to make donating food convenient and efficient by leaving bags of food by mailboxes. This year, partnered with CSAA Insurance Group, the Food Bank of South Jersey produced 250,000 AAA-branded bags that were distributed by postal service professionals. In entirety, approximately 817,500 meals and 951,000 pounds of food have been donated to local families and individuals in need over the last four years.

These efforts are organized by Matt Bowker, Public Relations Specialist at AAA South Jersey, who spoke at the May 7 Stamp Out Hunger kick-off event at the Food Bank of South Jersey.

“AAA has 65 million members across the country; according to Feeding America, nearly 48 million people struggle with hunger in our country,” Bowker says. “If every AAA member simply donated $1, imagine how many of our neighbors we could help. That’s why last year, AAAs partnered with Feeding America to launch our first-ever nationwide community service activity across the country. AAA donated 7.2 million meals and our employees volunteered over 10,000 hours at food banks.”

Pennsauken Mayor Patrick Olivo attended the kick-off event to show his support, and spoke on the importance of community collaboration that yields widespread philanthropic efforts.

“I’m incredibly proud to stand here today for such an important cause, alongside the amazing team from the Food Bank of South Jersey, and all of the volunteers, letter carriers, and community partners helping make Stamp Out Hunger a success,” he said. “This event is about more than collecting food, it’s about neighbors helping neighbors. It’s about making sure families, seniors, and children throughout South Jersey know they are not forgotten, and that their community cares deeply about them.”

Giving back to the community is integral to AAA South Jersey, which works to combat food insecurity throughout the year. Such efforts include partnering with local food pantries, hosting volunteer opportunities to work at the food bank as a AAA South Jersey team, and collecting funds and resources in the Voorhees office.
