VOORHEES, N.J. -- This June, AAA is launching its grassroots giving campaign spanning local communities across America. This nationwide effort aims to provide at least 3.5 million meals* to people in need at a time when food insecurity has reached its highest point in over a decade.
“The AAA South Jersey Gives Back program has worked closely with Feeding America and the Food Bank of South Jersey over the last few years. We are thrilled to see AAA clubs across the country join together in a national effort to fight hunger. Food is more than nourishment; it’s hope, dignity, and community," said AAA South Jersey spokesperson Matt Bowker.
AAA joins the Feeding America® network, which helps tens of millions of people experiencing food insecurity gain access to the food and resources they need to thrive. With AAA's expansive reach, which includes thousands of dedicated Associates and millions of valued Members, AAA aims to raise awareness, generate donations, volunteer time, and engage local communities to build a hunger-free America.
"Hunger is a challenge we can overcome by working together," said Lauren Biedron, Senior Vice President of Corporate Partnerships at Feeding America. "We are excited to join hands with AAA who understand the urgent need to address the hunger crisis and share in our belief that food insecurity is about more than food. It's about ensuring everyone has access to the resources needed to thrive."
In every community in America, people are working hard to provide for themselves and their families. Yet, in 2023, 47 million people—approximately 1 in 7—experienced food insecurity in the United States. The increased cost of living, coupled with increasingly limited access to food, is creating a national hunger crisis.
AAA selected the week of June 23 to June 27 to focus on donation and volunteer efforts, as this is when many children are out of school and often experience food insecurity. In 2023 alone, 13.8 million children did not have the food they needed to thrive. In South Jersey, 1 in 7 children struggles with hunger.
However, we know combating hunger is a year-round fight. In early May, AAA South Jersey sponsored for the third consecutive year the National Association of Letter Carriers’ Stamp Out Hunger. More than 250,000 AAA-branded bags were distributed throughout the South Jersey area. Residents filled the bags with nonperishable food items, that the postal workers then delivered to the Food Bank of South Jersey.
In 2025, Stamp Out Hunger resulted in over 277,000 pounds of food – nearly 231,000 meals – being donated to the Food Bank of South Jersey.
AAA South Jersey is continuing its commitment to the community with the June nationwide initiative through monetary donations and a volunteer event. Throughout the entire month of June, AAA South Jersey associates can donate to the cause and have their donation matched by the company.
We encourage members of the public to donate as well to maximize our impact. All AAA South Jersey members who donate to our team page will be entered to win a $50 gift card. Three winners will be randomly selected and notified in early July.
At the end of the week of impact, a team of AAA South Jersey employees will volunteer at the Food Bank of South Jersey.
Join AAA in making a difference. Together, we can help end hunger and support our neighbors in need bring home meals to their families. To donate or learn more about ways to get involved, click here.
