Personal Safety Tips When Traveling
Whether you are visiting local attractions in South Jersey, or are planning an exciting vacation overseas, there are certain precautions you can take to make sure you and your loved ones stay safe.
Travel Safety Tips
• Visiting multiple places? Plan your itinerary ahead of time and share your plans with a trusted friend or family member
• List your emergency contact as “ICE” (In Case of Emergency) in your mobile phone
• Travel with the crowd at all times – Don’t be a straggler
• Walk in well-lit and well-traveled areas
• Don’t display expensive jewelry, electronics, credit cards or cash
• Instead, keep valuables secured (Example: Keep car keys in zippered pockets)
• Be aware of your location in case you need to contact roadside assistance or call 911
• When driving, make note of where you park your car and consider your situation on return – will the parking lot still be open? Is it a well-lit area?
• When parking your car, don’t leave valuable items visible from the windows
• Know how to use the panic features on your car key fob
• Don’t trigger the disarm feature of your car alarm until you are safely at your vehicle
By following these travel safety tips, you can help keep yourself and your loved ones safe while still having fun!
