Hens & Honey Shoppe cute clothes and decor

Upon stepping into Hens & Honey Shoppe, visitors enter a magical atmosphere filled with unique spaces perfectly designed for photo-ops and sipping artfully crafted coffee flights—the café’s specialty. Hens & Honey Shoppe is not only trendy, but a trendsetter as the first New Jersey location to offer these creative flights. Furthermore, the whimsical décor is a step beyond photogenic—it’s completely immersive.

From a cave of willowing lavender flowers intertwined with lights, where inside, you can dine in a fairy forest complete with lit mushrooms; to a pink phone booth placed in front of a wall of pink roses where a podcast is filmed, there’s something new to explore with each visit. Some displays change seasonally, and the menu is always expanding with innovative options. The location is even complete with a store, where the items are curated to encapsulate the distinct identity of Hens & Honey Shoppe and what is trending most: Taylor Swift, Bridgerton, and Labubus to name a few for January 2026.

AAA South Jersey spoke with Valerie Robinson, owner of Hens & Honey Shoppe, to learn about the story of her business, why she became a partner with AAA, family values, and more.

AAA South Jersey: What inspired Hens & Honey Shoppe, and what has the journey been like so far?
Valerie Robinson: The journey has been amazing, and it has been a journey. I absolutely love having the café. I started out on our farm, on a little roadside stand. I started out in 2016 when I was a stay-at-home mom; I used to make soaps, sugar scrubs, and candles and we just evolved from there. I went from a roadside stand to a lawnmower shed, then we built a bigger building. We hit a few bumps there and I decided to move up here to Gloucester County. I’ve always wanted to do coffee; we had a coffee shop, and it got so popular we wound up opening a big café, [which has] been really fun. I love it.

I am the only cook five days a week here—I am in here seven days a week, though. It got to be a little much with everything, but I am getting back into my candle making. When I was on the farm, I actually broke down the soybeans that we harvested on the farm and put the oils into my candles. I don’t do that anymore, but I still make amazing soy candles.

Valentine's Day Pink Coffee Flight Hens & Honey Shoppe

AAA: How did you come up with the coffee flights and what have been the most popular flavors?
V.R.: Coffee flights change seasonally. Valentine’s is definitely my favorite type of coffee flight that we create, but we have an everyday coffee flight where you can choose from 15 different flavors—from peanut butter to chocolate, vanilla, salted caramel, caramel. We have something that you would like on there. We also have lavender, that one is really good.

AAA: What inspired you to partner with AAA Discounts & Rewards?
V.R.: I love AAA. Let me tell you a story. It was probably about three years ago; we were out in Lancaster, Pennsylvania. We are farmers—not only do we have the café, but my husband’s farms—and one of our trucks broke down. We were panicked because we were in the middle of Amish country.

We went ahead and called AAA and they got us out and somebody brought us and got our truck back on the road again. We were just talking about that this morning—he goes, “Remember when we got stuck out in Pennsylvania?”

AAA is amazing. It gives me peace of mind, but also my children have peace of mind because I have AAA for them with their vehicles now that they’re driving.

AAA: How can AAA members claim their $5 off a coffee flight?
V.R.: AAA customers can come into the café, and they can redeem their $5 off each coffee flight by showing their AAA card—and it is a lot of fun.

AAA: One can tell how family-oriented you are, how does that factor in your work?
V.R.: I need my family, that’s for sure. My daughter, my husband, and my son—they’re all my right hand. I mean, they help me whenever I have a problem, if anything breaks here or if I need an extra hand in the café, or back in the kitchen. They’re always here by my side. My daughter has been in the café with me now for almost four years up at the register.

AAA: Tell me about your podcast, Boss Babe Brews. What motivated you to start it?
V.R.: Well, it’s kind of funny, I was getting asked to be on a lot of other people’s podcast shows, and I’m like, “You know what? I’m pretty funny, let me do my own podcast.” It’s anything from business advice to weight loss, to women’s health. There’s so much that we talk about; we try to keep it really fun.

AAA: Hens & Honey Shoppe is known for its trendiness and frequent décor updates while maintaining a clear brand identity; how is this achieved so successfully?

V.R.: Holidays are really important—Valentine’s Day is my favorite, that’s my anniversary. We love decorating for Halloween, Christmas, Easter; and then I just kind of so with the vibe. I know what my customers like after all this time.

AAA: Are there any future plans that you can share?
V.R.: I do have some upcoming things that are pretty exciting. As far as holidays, we switch up for each holiday with different flights and themes in the café. It’s not just a café; we have a little shopping area where we update T-shirts, sweatshirts, jewelry, and stuff like that.
